DEVELOPING A CLIMATE SIMULATION VR GAME
THOUGHTS AND IDEA BRAINSTORMING FOR NETWORK AND UTOPIAN FUTURE SITE BUILD – Expect errors and omissions -DARRIN NUPUF – 2022
Few years ago a personal AI was fantasy land stuff, today a very small team can build advanced Open Source AI and Machine Learning Neural Networks.
IMAGINE A GOAL LIKE: Developing a simulation that allows many people to test different ideas and see results over a variety of time scales.
ORIGIN: My first concepts for a VR game and world solution was in 1996 under the concept name New Society. Utopian Future and a few other sites portals evolved from that first idea.
The team never happened and game development at the time was far from refined. These sites ran for many years never very polished and went down 2018-2021 due to server rebuilds and moves.
I’m currently re-building entire network site by site with solid automation. Doing my best to spelling out details, break down goals and express the ideas for over 200 network sites. These sites will operate as a de-centralized music and arts cooperative. While my original ideas are very old and need updated logic, turns out the old concepts seem to be current buzzwords! de-centralized, Web3 concepts.
Can one man with more criticism than support, finish all these goals?..Nope! Crazy talk drop dead way before that happens.
I can get the basic framework in place and spell out goals for different parts and pieces = Phase 1 .
After that I’m just creating new content and productions for the network, searching out some like minded individuals! I do need to eat and offer a variety of web development, hosting and production services to pay the bills. Full Virtual Production setup in progress.
This is a bottom up business model, and covering the cost of servers and sites comes first. Total cost per site is $55 per year. Then basic team setup and development per site starts around $500. The cost of building advanced shared features is divided evenly, and voted on as a coop op. As more sites join cost continues to drop and the tools can be polished further.
The open sourced features will be focused on business automation and income generation. The programmers that get involved will get same promotion and income as artist we promote in the systems. We want them to create and bring us the best apps for integration and automation so making sure they are included into eco system is foundational. All content is held by creator in this model then shared to networks.. Not saying it’s easy to stop all scams, but as a small focused group we can limit exposure.
Developing a cooperative that generates it’s own eco system would be a game changer for the monopolies. A systems designed by artists for artists and owned by the artists.
1- $100 site sponsor per site and we are profitable for the long term. Phase 2 Each site that finds a team and manager is cross promoted and network gains with each new project. 100 site managers working together and we can build anything fast and cheap. While maintain unique projects and ideas.
As a great man Derik Severs once said – One guy’s is a lone nut, 2-3 more people and you have a movement.
STEPS FOR UTOPIAN FUTURE:
- Setting up site and filling in blanks of model site
- Creating the replicant sites from model site, then each becomes a unique goal.
- Finding and developing content to fit topics and goals.
- finding a site manager for the project to lead the initiatives
- Building a team for the goals and plans developed
- Make a difference, do things that inspire others.
- Stop the race to the bottom and start reaching for the stars.
STEPS FOR LARGER NETWORK:
- Re-build the group of sites connected to Utopian Future and Music Network (1 person couple months)
- Find site managers and sales people for a single site or many sites (everyone has to earn income bottom up model transparent same for all)
- Run our first fund raisers on kickstarter or other sites.
- Rebuild our spider and data systems to connect all 200 sites in new framework
- launch the wordpress plugin that allows external sites to join network
- Fund The blockchain and NFT solution for network in first server rebuild.
- Open up load balancing and international goals and solutions.
Would allow people with different ideas to guide an AI – machine learning system towards real solutions.
Finding solutions that shape the future is in our reach!
DEVELOPING A CLIMATE SIMULATION VR GAME
Consider the VR projects outlined below.
1. This is Climate Change
This is an expansive virtual reality docu-series from Participant Media and Condition One. It allows viewers to explore the far corners of the earth to discover people being hit the hardest by climate change.
This is Climate Change provides an immersive view of how people endure the impact of global warming, deforestation, wildfires, drought, and famine.
Danfung Dennis and Eric Strauss created the 29-minute long docu-series which premiered in 2018.
2. Tree
Tree is a virtual reality project that transforms you into a rainforest tree. As such, your body can serve as the tree’s trunk, while your arms would be the branches.
Along with offering a first-hand experience of the tree’s growth from seedling to the fullest from, viewers will also witness its challenges.
Trees are our best defense against climate change. Yet, a study in the journal Nature suggests that 46 percent of global trees have been cut off since humans started cutting down forests.
The VR project, Tree, can educate viewers on the beauty and fragility of nature. This could ultimately lead to more empathy for plant life.
3. Greenland Melting
Greenland Melting is a VR experience that educates viewers on the effect of warm waters from the ocean on glaciers in Greenland
Viewers will experience being in Greenland and standing in the water in front of a glacier. They ‘ll also witness stunning scenery beneath the ocean, while two NASA scientists explain how the warm waters are melting the glaciers.
The Virtual Reality project was inspired by the calls for the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.
4. We Live in an Ocean of Air
This immersive VR experience reveals how breathing connects plants and humans. It takes you to an ancient forest to see the Sequoia tree and witness the visible exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Although We Live in an Ocean of Air is not as haunting at the other three Virtual Reality projects, the 20-minute experience provides a visual insight into our place in the world.
It helps us become more aware of the planet and its parts. And this could increase the willingness to protect it.
5. IMMERSE
A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The Hydrous developed IMMERSE, to raise awareness about the threat coral reefs to face due to rising ocean temperature.
In the experience, you’ll become a diver accompanying marine biologist and CEO of Hydrous, Dr. Erika Woolsey, as she swims next to sea turtles, manta rays, and sharks. As Hydrous described it, it’s a journey of science, love, and magic in the ocean.
IMMERSE was co-developed by Horizon Production. And it first premiered at the International Ocean Film Festival at Fort Mason, San Francisco.
